Hello! I am Miguel, a life apprentice from Ecuador.

Learning excites me. More recently I found myself interested in Social Psychology.

I majored in Software Engineering, I wanted to understand "the magic behind those screens" and build my own operating system. Fast-forward some years, I'm daily driving Debian with Hyprland and it kind of feels like I've built my own operating system!

It feels like that because it mostly looks and behaves the way I want, but I didn't have to "build it myself" the way I had thought when I was a kid. Instead it is possible thanks to the people that wrote the software in such a way that allowed me to make it my own. Two things amaze me from this reality:

1. That I am able to customize somebody else's written software to the point of making it behave so it feels like my own.
2. That my system works! Flawlesly!! Running something that was built by many people. The result of many people's effort and collaboration. It works!

After reading the second point perhaps you are thinking "Well... All of our society is built like that. Something amazing product of the collaborative work of many is the norm rather than the exception" and you'd be correct! There are nuances though in regard to the "Amazing", from the outcomes it might have for an individual's and our society's well being, to the drivings of those who collaborated to the realization of the "Amazing".
